Friendship with Flavor
A Neurospicy Journey
Hi, I'm Amanda. I'm a mom of two boys, one of whom has AuADHD and a PDA profile.
Through our neurospicy journey, I was also diagnosed with ADHD and Autism at 40. Good news - helpful to know why certain things were harder for me throughout my life and why my son and I butt heads so much. Bad news - Maybe knowing before 40 would have been helpful. Better than late never?
In my professional life, I run my own event-planning business. I love being creative visually and get a thrill from successfully executing a big-scale event.
I started this community because I felt so alone when my son was diagnosed. I didn't have any mom friends who understood what we were going through and was tired of explaining the acronyms. It was especially frustrating to have friends and family disagree with his diagnoses because he acted like an angel around them. They didn't see the holes in the walls in his room when he exploded or have to chase him around the neighborhood when he ran out of the house during a tantrum.
I received a lot of armchair advice with the latest behavioral modification techniques or parenting courses we should take to change his behavior. For all the resources out there, I didn't find real-time peer-to-peer support and a social outlet for moms on this journey.
And NeuroSpice Girls was born! I hope you all find this community as meaningful as it has been for me.
Amanda Levin is the founder of NeuroSpice Girls. She is a mom of two boys and owner of Forever Magnolia Events and A Capitol Event.

"Neuro Spice" is a recently developed term to describe neurodivergency. I'm from southwest Louisiana, where spice is used like maple syrup and is always a welcome addition in recipes.
I'm a millennial mom who sang "Wannabe" from the Spice Girls at the top of my lungs in college.
I am the biggest fan of puns, and when I made the combo of "Neuro Spice" and Spice Girls, it just felt right.
