NSG Wondering Wednesdays: Building Good Communication with Your Child's Teacher
Join us for a virtual Q&A with education advocate Shari Perry on building strong, collaborative communication with your child's teacher — because when home and school are on the same page, neurodivergent kids thrive.
Bring your questions, your wins, and your "how do I even say this" moments; we'll tackle them together. You will also receive a template letter to send to your child’s teacher.
Shari Perry has vast experience in both comprehensive and alternative school settings, supporting students with specific learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, autism, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and those identified as twice exceptional.
As a lifelong special educator, Shari has dedicated herself to advocating for students and their families. She uses her more than 30 years experience as a special educator, central office administrator and educational advocate to help families navigate complicated school systems and collaboratively develop customized, structured plans of support. Shari acts as a conduit for families and strives to meet their children’s evolving academic and social-emotional needs.

Wondering Wednesdays: A 10 Minute Worksheet That Takes an Hour to Finish: Homework Struggles & Neurodivergent Kids
What's really happening when a ten-minute worksheet turns into an hour-long battle? Executive function, sensory overload, anxiety — so many things can turn homework into a nightly standoff.
Join us for an open conversation where parents can ask their toughest homework questions and hear from educational therapist Sarah Juliana of Autonomous Hippopotamus.
Sarah Juliana is a neurodivergent educator, educational therapist, and special education advocate who works directly with neurodivergent learners and their families. Her work combines specialized educational intervention with an understanding of how learning, regulation, executive functioning, and individual neurodevelopmental differences affect a child’s ability to engage and succeed in school and learning. Through Autonomous Hippopotamus, she provides individualized person-centered support designed to help neurodivergent people become confident independent learners.

The Missing Piece: The Brain, Body, and Beyond
Being a mom means you’re always “on.” You’re managing schedules, solving problems, supporting everyone else - and somehow, your own needs end up at the bottom of the list (again).
You know taking care of yourself matters… but actually making time for it? That’s the hard part.
But the truth is your regulation matters, too. Your nervous system, your energy, your health - these are not extras. They’re foundational.
True support begins with you, because when you feel good, everything else feels more manageable. Your ability to handle the hard moments shifts, and you’re able to show up as you want to.
This event - co-sponsored by The Whole Child Collective and NeuroSpice Girls - is your permission to pause.
We’ll begin with a grounding group sound healing session to help your body settle and reset. Then, a panel of wellness professionals will share accessible, body-based strategies you can incorporate into daily life to support your own regulation, gut health, circulation, mood, and overall well-being.
Afterward, you’ll have time to explore different wellness experiences and connect with the panelists one-on-one.
Plus, enjoy delicious bites from local eateries and women-owned small businesses - because you deserve to be taken care of, too.

Listening & Responding: A Webinar on Improving Partner Communication
If you’re being honest…
Has parenting your neurodivergent child changed your relationship?
Not because you don’t love each other.
Not because you’re “bad at communicating.
But because you’re exhausted.
Because everything feels urgent.
Because one of you is drowning while the other is trying to fix things.
So conversations turn into fights.
Or silence.
Or that heavy feeling that you’re not on the same team anymore.
That’s why I’m hosting a live webinar on improving partner communication while parenting neurodivergent kids next Wednesday from 12-1:30 pm, featuring neuro affirming marriage and family therapist Kerrith Solomon, who truly understands these family dynamics.
This isn’t couples therapy.
It’s not about blame or fixing your partner.
It’s about:
• Understanding why communication breaks down under chronic stress
• Learning how to talk without triggering shutdown or defensiveness
• Feeling less alone—and more connected again
There will be opportunities to raise a distinct challenge you are facing to work through with Kerrith on the webinar.
You deserve support too.
Your relationship matters too.
Save your spot here: https://forms.gle/7wz2oqpn8nN9tcXh7 and send $40 via Venmo to @NeuroSpiceGirls 247
This event will NOT be recorded to protect the privacy of participants. The webinar will be canceled and the ticket fee will be refunded if there isn't a minimum of 10 participants.
With care,
Amanda Levin
